Keiko Orrall, a Lakeville state representative and a GOP national committeewoman, is running for state treasurer against incumbent Deborah Goldberg, launching what could be a competitive race for the constitutional seat.
Orrall, who has served in the House since 2011, is the first Asian-American woman to seek one of the state’s constitutional offices, according to her campaign.
A close ally of Gov. Charlie Baker, Orrall ascended to the national Republican committeewoman perch in 2016 with the governor’s backing, and in a statement framed herself as a “strong partner” to the administration — a sign she may present a unified front with the popular Baker as he seeks re-election this fall.
